CANNES — International sales agency Reinvent Yellow Sales has expanded its Mipcom 2026 distribution slate, acquiring international rights for SkyShowtime’s Swedish crime drama The Homicide Unit and the Icelandic thriller Fjord.
The addition of both titles highlights Reinvent Yellow's strategy to maintain a strong portfolio of premium Nordic crime content while expanding into English-language co-productions following the merger between Yellow Film Studios and REinvent last year.
Featured Additions to the Slate:
The Homicide Unit (Riksmord): Produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Sweden for SkyShowtime and TV4, the eight-part series is created by Gunnar A. K. Järvstad (Top Dog). Inspired by a real-life mobile elite police unit, the show stars Swedish actress Pernilla August (Star Wars: Episode I, Blackwater) alongside Jonas Karlsson, Alexander Abdallah, and Nina Zanjani. The series is set to premiere in March 2027.
Fjord: Co-created by writer-director Constantine Paraskevopoulos and lead actress Anita Briem (The Tudors), the six-part English and Icelandic-language thriller follows an ex-pat returning to Northern Iceland who becomes obsessed with a decade-old missing persons case. Produced by Iceland’s Projects and Belgium’s Lunanime for streaming platform SĂminn, the series is scheduled for release later this year.
Additional Crime and Drama Offerings:
Alongside the new acquisitions, Reinvent Yellow Sales is presenting several high-profile Nordic productions at Mipcom, including:
Nora Sand: Devil’s Plan: The third television adaptation of Lone Theil’s crime novels, commissioned by DR (Denmark) and TV4 (Sweden).
Snake Killer: Prime Video’s first Danish original series, starring Pilou Asbæk and produced by Nordisk Film Production.
Sogn Murders: A cozy crime series for TV2 Norway starring Kristofer Hivju.
The New Nurses (Season 8): The latest installment of TV2 Denmark and SF Studios' long-running hospital drama franchise, scheduled for delivery in late 2026.
Reinvent Yellow Sales executives noted that crime, thriller, and action remain the most sought-after genres among international buyers, with a strong demand for local stories featuring recognizable international talent.
