Kelly Clarkson Says "I Love AI" — But Not on the Same Charts as Human Artists
By Editorial Staff•Fri, Oct 2, 2026

Kelly Clarkson has weighed in on artificial intelligence with what she calls a "controversial" take, saying while she believes AI is capable of impressive things, it shouldn't be allowed to directly compete with human artists, particularly on music charts.
The pop star shared her perspective during an appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, making clear that her enthusiasm for AI comes with some caveats when it comes to the music industry specifically.
Clarkson Explains Her Stance
Clarkson said she genuinely loves AI and isn't bothered by any controversy that comes with that admission, noting that there are aspects of the technology she finds genuinely exciting, including creative applications she enjoys experimenting with herself. Her concern, she explained, centers specifically on AI-generated artists appearing on the same charts as human musicians, which she believes warrants a separate category altogether.
She emphasized that AI is welcome to be part of the broader creative conversation, describing the musical possibilities it opens up as genuinely exciting. She noted that AI could give people who may not have traditional musical abilities a new way to create, calling it an interesting space to explore. Still, she maintained that AI shouldn't be competing directly against human artists, comparing the situation to holding an Olympic event where robots are allowed to compete alongside human athletes — questioning who would realistically come out ahead in that scenario.
A Broader Take on AI's Role
Clarkson also spoke more broadly about AI's expanding presence beyond music, acknowledging that the technology isn't going away and pointing to the many significant scientific advances tied to it. At the same time, she stressed the importance of maintaining a clear distinction between human and AI-generated work, arguing that what makes human artistry unique shouldn't be lost in the process. She suggested there's likely room for audiences to embrace both human and AI-created content, so long as the two remain clearly separated.
