Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" Breaks Mariah Carey's All-Time Billboard Hot 100 Record

Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" has officially claimed the record for the most weeks spent at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, now sitting at 23 weeks atop the chart. The milestone pushes the song past the record it had shared with Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You," which previously held the top spot with 22 weeks.
A Record That May Not Last Long
Carey's 1994 holiday classic tends to return to No. 1 every December, meaning she could realistically reclaim the all-time record as early as January. Still, there's no clear indication that "Choosin' Texas" is running out of steam, with nothing currently positioned to overtake it on the chart. If Langley can extend her streak even a few more weeks before the holiday season kicks in, she could effectively lock in her position ahead of Carey's seasonal resurgence.
Still Picking Up New Listeners
Given that "Choosin' Texas" has now charted for 48 weeks total — with nearly half of those spent at No. 1 — it might be reasonable to expect listener fatigue. Instead, the song continues attracting new audiences, including listeners outside traditional country music circles, as more pop radio stations have embraced the crossover hit.
Streaming numbers dipped slightly this week, with 21.8 million official streams, down 9% from the previous week. But radio airplay more than compensated, climbing 2% to 58.3 million audience impressions. The song remains No. 1 on Billboard's Streaming Songs and Digital Songs charts and jumped from No. 6 to No. 2 on the Radio Songs chart this week. Beyond its earlier peak on the country airplay chart, it now sits in the top 10 on Billboard's pop airplay, adult pop airplay, and adult contemporary charts as well.
Langley's Broader Momentum
Langley's album "Dandelion" also remains a commercial success, even if it isn't chasing the same records as her single. The album returned to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 last week before slipping to No. 2 this week, following the top-spot debut of Jhené Aiko's "Westside Whimsy."
Langley has a significant fall ahead on the awards circuit as well. Grammy nominations are set to be announced November 16, with Langley expected to feature prominently — potentially helping address years of limited country representation in the ceremony's top categories. Two days later, she'll be a leading contender at the CMA Awards, having recently earned nine nominations. The ceremony airs from Nashville on November 18.
Country Music Dominates the Hot 100's Top Ranks
Langley isn't alone at the top of the chart — country music currently holds all three top spots on the Hot 100. Stella Lefty's "Boston" remains at No. 2 and also climbed to No. 1 on the country airplay chart for the first time this week. Morgan Wallen's "Been by Now" follows closely at No. 3.
Rounding out the rest of the Hot 100's top 10: Ariana Grande's resurgent "Hate That I Made You Love Me" at No. 4, Tame Impala and Jennie's "Dracula" at No. 5, Taylor Swift's movie single "I Knew It, I Knew You" at No. 6, Karol G's "Bby Wow" at No. 7, Olivia Dean's "So Easy (to Fall in Love)" and "Man I Need" at Nos. 8 and 9, and a second Langley hit, "Be Her," rounding out the list at No. 10.
